Neck Pain
Having neck pain can be extremely painful and uncomfortable. You forget how important your neck health is until you begin having neck pain. Your neck, also called the cervical spine, supports the full weight of your head. The average weight of someone’s head is twelve pounds, making the neck very susceptible to pain. Neck pain can be caused by many things, including sitting for long periods of time, repetitive moments, automotive accidents, and even falling. Everyday wear and tear can also give you neck pain.
Back Pain
Chronic back pain is one of the biggest problems Americans face today and affects eight out of ten people at some point in their lives. Even though back pain is common, the level of severity varies. A variety of different conditions are responsible for discomfort in different regions of your back. These include sprained ligaments, strained muscles, trigger points, arthritis, ruptured disks, inflamed joints, sport injuries, and many more. We will locate the source and do everything we can to ease the uncomfortable pain you may be experiencing.
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain is very common and affects almost half of the U.S. population at some point in their lives. Although the causes may be different, many of the treatment options are similar. Like any other issue, the sooner that you receive the proper care, the quicker the pain will go away and the sooner you will be able to get back to your everyday routine. In many situations, if you leave the problem untreated for too long, it may worsen and become a chronic problem.
Hip Pain
Our hips are such an important part of our body. They ensure that we stand up straight, control the entire bottom half of us, and allow us to walk, run, kick, and play. In many cases, hip pain is simply caused by osteoarthritis, though it can also be a result of an injury. If you come into our office, our friendly and qualified staff will assist you in relieving your pain by getting to the root of the issue. Instead of covering up the problem, we want to ensure that the pain goes away and stays away.
Knee Pain
Most people experience some sort of knee pain during their lives. Whether you are growing or starting to age and get older, your knees do a lot for you every single day. Knee pain will definitely have a negative impact on your day-to-day functions, and that is why it is so important to try to address pain as soon as it begins. Our licensed chiropractor will find the perfect way for you to get rid of your pain. We will address the underlying issues that are causing your knee pain and come up with a game plan to relieve your pain for good.
Sciatica
We regularly treat patients with sciatica. Since there are many disorders that cause sciatica, we will determine what is the root cause of your sciatica by taking a thorough patient history during your physical and neurological exam. In some instances, diagnostic testing such as an x-ray, MRI, CT scan and/or electrodiagnostic test (electromyography) might be necessary. These examinations and tests help to detect possible contraindications to spinal adjustments and other chiropractic therapies.
Disc Problems
A herniated disc, also known as a slipped disc, is one of the most common conditions to affect the spine. While it can occur anywhere along your spine, it most frequently occurs in the neck or lower back. Discs are essentially small cushions that sit between each of the vertebrae in your spine. When a disc herniates or slips, the disc ruptures, allowing the nerve center to move and become pinched between the vertebrae.
Car Accidents
According to the American Chiropractic Association, one of the most common causes of neck pain is whiplash resulting from a car accident. A sudden forced movement of the head or neck in any direction and the resulting “rebound” in the opposite direction is known as whiplash. The sudden “whipping” motion injures the surrounding and supporting tissues of the neck and head. Muscles react by tightening and contracting, creating muscle fatigue, which can result in pain and stiffness. Severe whiplash can also be associated with injury to the intervertebral joints, discs, ligaments, muscles, and nerve roots.
Sports Injuries
The first step in treating your injury is receiving a medical diagnosis from an experienced professional like our chiropractor. The treatment and prognosis of your sports injury vary on the severity of your pain and the extent of the injury itself, and usually starts with rest, ice, compression and elevation of the affected area. Other treatments that may be recommended by our chiropractor at Briarwood Chiropractic include chiropractic care, pain relievers or other medications, physical therapy and rehabilitation, or even surgery.
Workers’ Compensation
Chiropractic care for worker’s compensation may include advanced spinal correction using state-of-the-art chiropractic techniques and spinal adjustments, acupuncture, corrective exercises, lifestyle advice, nutritional counseling, custom orthotics, and physiotherapy. Spinal adjustments can free trapped nerves and alleviate pressure on the rubbery discs cushioning the bones of the neck and spine. Acupuncture stimulates the production of the body’s own painkillers and anti-inflammatory; it also supports the body’s immune system in ways that positively affect heart rate, brain activity, and blood pressure for patients struggling with workplace injuries covered under workers’ compensation.
Radiculopathy
Each vertebra is cushioned from its neighbor by an intervertebral disc. This protects the vertebrae from rubbing on top of each other. When injuries occur, these intervertebral discs can become damaged and cause compression or irritation of a nearby nerve root. Depending on which nerve is compressed, a person can experience pain in a variety of locations throughout the body. People can develop radiculopathy as the result of an injury, or it may occur for no apparent reason. Those individuals aged 30 to 50 years old are most likely to experience radiculopathy, in the cervical and lumbar spine areas.
